Revolution: derived from the Latin word “revolutio”, a turnaround; a fundamental change in power or organizational structures that takes place in a relatively short period of time. Revolutions or movements usually have occurred throughout human history and very in terms of methods, duration, and motivating ideology. Results have major changes in culture and economy.
October 2007 birthed one of the greatest revolutions that world has yet to see. Maurice Hicks and Lisa Fields are two ordinary people that God used to birth an extraordinary movement. These two radical students decided to trademark the phrase “Without Jesus I Suck”. What once was a joke on Mr. Hicks’ Facebook religious status is now a tool used to transform and bless the lives all across the world.
What Mr. Hicks and Ms. Fields once knew as a simple idea or “something they stumbled upon” is now growing to be the greatest witnessing tool that world will ever see. Ms. Fields states “College students all over the world have been impacted by the shirts and the message”. She wants the world to know these are more than just words on a shirt, but a “Modern Movement”.
Mr. Hicks took the vision and made it plain by having just a few shirts printed. Who knew that lives all over the world be changed. The message is simple and blunt. The word “suck” is nothing more than modern day vernacular meaning “nothing”, as it stated in psalm 16:2 “I say to God, be my Lord, without you...nothing makes sense”. Without Jesus we can do nothing. Good works, successes, accomplishments? They all mean nothing; we must first receive Christ for our lives to count for anything.
Since the birth of WJIS the message has been featured on major networks and worn by gospel recording artists. Shirts have also been sold via the website all over the world. WJIS has also made major contributions to assist unfortunate children in South America .
At Without Jesus I Suck our mission is to spread the love of Jesus Christ all over the world by any means necessary. We serve God in a nontraditional way that will sustain our generation. In the near future you will see WJIS host youth explosions, concerts, and assist with collegiate ministries all over the US . We desire to connect with other recording artists, bands and different magazines used to spread the Gospel to youth. We want the world to know that we stand for greatness, strive for excellence and we do so in a spirit of worship and truth. We desire to change the culture and not allow the culture to change us. We want to encourage this generation to walk in maturity and the Love of Christ, because “Without Jesus, we all really do suck” |
